How to Rename iMac Computer

How to Name your iMac Computer. The name you choose will be used to identify the computer within your Network so others can access files should you enable that functionality. While most are happy with the name they've chosen for their iMac, some will want to pick another name. Fortunately, renaming an iMac is both possible and fairly simple to accomplish.

Step 1

Click the "Apple" logo at the top left of your Mac's screen.

Step 2

Select "System Preferences."

Step 3

Click "Sharing."

Step 4

Click the box next to "Computer Name."

Step 5

Type in a new name for your iMac.
