Apple iCloud

Nobody knows for sure what Apple has in store Monday when it introduces, iCloud, the company's newest cloud service offering. Will iCloud absorb MobileMe--Apple's calendar, e-mail, and contacts sync service -- or will it stand alone? Does Apple have plans for a new file sync feature that will seamlessly unify files on your iOS devices with your Mac or Windows PC?

How to Make Your Laptop Battery Longer Long Life in Just SImple Step

How do you keep your laptop battery going for as long as possible? If you've had replaced your laptop battery, then you know that it is not cheap.

Here are some basics you should learn about laptop batteries. Most of them are manufactured from lithium ion. The average life of a Li-Ion battery is 300 to 500 discharge-recharge cycles, or 2 to 3 years, whichever comes first. Power level, environmental conditions and charging habits will affect the longevity of the battery. As the battery gets closer to its end of life, the amount of time it will hold a charge will become less and less. Whatever precautions you will take, battery life will eventually wear with time.

You should know that you can do something to lessen the impact of the battery degradation and make the life span of your laptop battery a little bit longer. Although your battery will eventually die, proper care can put off the inevitable. Here's how to keep your laptop battery working for as long as possible.

Keep your batteries away from too hot or too cold environments

Undue heat kills off a battery slowly but surely. Avoid leaving the laptop under direct sunlight or inside a closed car. Maintain your battery out of utmost heat. Similarly, extreme cold conditions (like a refrigerator) can also kill a battery. Hence, never leave your laptops in places where temperatures are extreme. Of course, the whole health of your laptop can benefit from this, not just your batteries. If you don't plan to use the laptop on batteries for quite some time, ensure that the charge is about 40% then remove the battery and store it in a cool place (room temperature).

Practice proper charging-discharging habits

Most people are familiar with Nickel Cadmium (Ni-Cad) batteries, and know that it is best to discharge them all the way down before charging them up again because they have charge memory. This is not true for Lithium Ion batteries. Li-Ion batteries do not have that type of memory, so it is not important to let them discharge all the way down before recharging. In fact, most of the time, it is best NOT to let it discharge all the way. Partial discharge reduces stress and prolongs battery life. If possible, avoid frequent full discharges and charge more often between uses.

Exercise the battery

Do not leave a charged battery dormant for long periods of time. Too usually, folks would use their laptops while plugged in a power source. While this is fairly safe, batteries that don't get used shall be simply as sickly as batteries which are used incorrectly. Like our bodies, batteries need to be exercised to remain robust and healthy. Moreover, keeping a fully charged battery at elevated temperatures (which is the case when running a laptop on the power grid for extended period) affects the performance of the battery.

Use the right charger

The volume of energy that is introduced and expended over each charging cycle will make a difference in the life of a Li-Ion cell. It is best to use the original equipment to charge the battery. Higher output charging units (what we typically call fast chargers) will reduce the life of the battery.

Use Power Management Applications

Most laptops come with power management applications with battery maintenance functions. When running on extended AC mode, you can select "long life" option for your battery and it will charge to about 80% capacity only. Before travelling, apply the "full charge" option to bring your battery to 100% capacity.

A typical lithium ion battery has an overall average life of 2-3 years. With some care and caution, its mortality can be delayed. These simple ways on laptop battery care could help you in increasing or lengthening the lifespan of your laptop battery.

How to Make Your Blogger / Blog Load Faster Than 123

The speed at which your blog loads is very critical to attracting and retaining more readers to your blog. If your blog takes a long time to load, many readers may leave your blog before they have the chance to read it.

The major factors that affect your blog load speed include:

  • The number and nature of Images and other multi-media
  • Third Party JavaScript and Links
  • Number of Posts displayed on the Main page

Let's take a look at the above factors and few tips and tricks that will help you optimize your blog load time.

Images and other multimedia are important to beautifying and attracting users to your blog. However, the more images, videos and other multi-media you have on your blog the longer it takes to load. It becomes necessary to optimize the load speed of your images and other media.
Decrease the size of your images or use thumbnails that link to the full-size image.
Consider uploading images to Picasa Web Albums via the Blogger post editor if you use third party images.Don't link to external image URLs!

For optimal blog load speed, we recommend using Google/Blogger widgets, JavaScript and links.
However, I understand that sometimes you will need to use third party JavaScript and links. If you those, put them at the bottom of the sidebar. Your blog will load much faster that way.

Finally, your blog's load time can be affected by the number of posts you display on your main page. 10 or even fewer posts per page is recommended. You can easily edit the number of posts displayed of the main page from the Settings > Formatting tab. You can then select the number of posts you want to display on the main page as shown in the image below.

How to Easy Hide or Remove Blogger / Blogspot Top Navigation Bar

If you are using any default template of Blogger, I'm pretty sure you must have seen a navigation bar at the top of your blog. The Blogger NavBar contains Search Blog textbox, Follow link, Next Blog link to visit another blog randomly, links to create a blog or sign in to Blogger etc.
Below is the preview of Blogger navigation bars.

What do you think about it? Well, I think it makes your blog look too basic and unprofessional? If we share the same thoughts and you want to hide or get rid of it. Follow these steps.

To Remove or hide the Blogger Navbar, you just have to insert one line of code into your blog's HTML. It's a very easy CSS hack. The trick will not interfere or mess up with your custom layouts and it's pretty safe and easy to implement.

1. Go to Dashboard > Template > Edit HTML
2. Check the box of Expand Widget Template.
3. Ensure you backup your template (Download Your Template)
4. Find the following code by pressing Ctrl + f

]]>

How to Save Your Laptop Battery For Long Life

FlashFrozen maybe the answer to your short battery life. If you use Google Chrome, Firefox 4, and in Safari on 64-bit Macs, the Flash plug-in is pushed onto its own process. FlashFrozen lives as a tiny menu app, monitoring this process and will warn you (by turning red) if Flash is using a relatively significant amount of processor cycles. You can then go to FlashFrozen's menu to kill the Flash plug-in.

Any running Flash content is replaced with the broken plugin icon. Want to get Flash working again? Simply reload the page, or go to a new one. The next time Flash is needed, it'll come back to life. Flash ads or other Flash-related junk forces our processors to run hot and leech our precious battery fluids.

Flash animations and videos are among the top processor hogs on Mac OS X. A single poorly-designed Flash banner - even in an inactive window or tab - can suck up an entire processor core with its shady mortgage offers.

Your 5-hour battery life gets cut in half, your laptop runs hotter, and your legs cook to medium-rare.

That's where FlashFrozen comes into play.

FlashFrozen lets you stop the Flash plug-in dead in its tracks, letting your new-fangled Mac cool down, use less power, and give you more time to do whatever it is you do. Probably blog or tweet or something.

And the new AutoKill mode actively stops Flash at all times. Turn this on and off at will to save even more battery life.

ow to Fix the Apple Keyboard with Numeric Keypad Problems

If you are unable to type letters, numbers, or symbols, you may have Mouse Keys enabled on a keyboard that has no numeric keypad or Num Lock key.

It happen to me this week, I was entering a password which had numerical numbers and I was using the numerical pad on the right side of my keyboard and I kept getting the wrong password message. I used the numbers above the letters on the keyboard and they worked.

So I thought I had a bad keyboard, until I did a simple search and there it was at Apple support, "Unable to type while Mouse Keys is enabled in Mac OS X"

Seams like I wasn't the only one having this problem.

How to Fix:

  1. Choose System Preferences from the Apple menu.
  2. Choose Universal Access from the View menu.
  3. Click the Mouse tab or in Lion Click Mouse & Trackpad
  4. Click Off, next to Mouse Keys. If you have already logged in as a different user where Mouse Keys is disabled, click On and then click Off next to Mouse Keys, to return the keyboard to normal operation.
Note: You may also check/uncheck the box for "Press Option key five times to turn Mouse Keys on or off".

Note: If you are logged on to a user where Mouse Keys is already disabled, but your keyboard is not responding properly, toggle the radio buttons for Mouse Keys "On" then "Off" to restore normal functionality.

How to Set Your MS Outlook to Auto Send and Recive Mail

Microsoft Outlook will check for new emails or send any emails in your outbox every 30 minutes. There might be a very important email coming in and need your action, I would say immediately but since new emails will only come in every 30 minutes, it might be too late for you to react on the email received.

You can actually change the setting to read new emails from as frequent as every 1 minute to maximum of every 120 minutes.
  1. Go to Tools menu, select Option....
  2. On the Options dialog box, go to Mail Setup tab and click Send/Recieve... button.

  3. On the Send/Recieve Groups dialog box, change the value (default is 30) for Schedule an automatic send/receive every ... minutes field under Setting for group "All Accounts" (or any other account you may have in your Group Name field.

  4. Once done, click Close and then click OK to close the Options dialog box.

Don't set it to 1 minute of your internet connection speed is poor. Maybe you can reduce it to 5 minutes.

How to View Your Web Mail In Your MS Outlook

Step 2: Convert the folder to view your webmail.

How to Create Email Template In MS Office 2007

Sometimes, you may find that you will be sending emails of the same content again and again (maybe to send monthly report, etc...) and you'll find that you have to type same sentances for these emails again and again.

If that's the case, try saving the email message as a template and later you can reuse it.
  1. Compose new email as you usually do with normal emails. Put in the subject and if you are going to always send to the same receipient, you can put the receipient email addresses in the To, CC or BCC field.
  2. Once complete, click the Office Button and select Save As.

  3. In the Save As dialog box, change the Save as type: to Outlook Template.
  4. Name the file and select your file location if you want to save it in different location or just leave it in the default template location as it is.

For earlier version users, you must first disable the Use Microsoft Office Word 2003 to edit e-mail messages feature found in Tools > Options menu under the Mail Format tab of the Options dialog box.

Follow the steps 2 to 4 as stated above (slight difference in step 2 where you should click File menu instead of Office Button).

To use the template (same process for Outlook 2007 or earlier):

  1. From Tools menu, go to Forms and select Choose Form... .

  2. In the Choose Form dialog box, select User Templates in File System from Look In: combo box.

  3. Select the template listed or click the Browse button if the template is in other location.
  4. Click Open.

Now you can continue to add attachment(s) or amend the template as required.

iOS 5 update, a catastrophe

If you search in Google, you will find it in mostly all Mac/Apple forums, but, I do not know why, may be paying respect to Jobs, only few important pages are talking about the bad planned iOS 5 upgrade. And what worries me now is the question, is Apple ready to handle the whole traffic that iOS 5 will create with the new "Backup in the Cloud" concept and the coming new upgrades? It seems to me that they are not prepared. I could install iOS 5 in my iPad only 12 hours after the release and activate the Backup in the Cloud option only after 36 hours. And I still cannot create my first backup. The servers are so slow that took me more than 4 hours to download the 707Mb iOS file. The speed was comparable with the one we had in a old 56kb Modem.

What can I say about iOS 5?
There are few neat new features like the Tabs in Safari.

The Reader option in some pages.

The split keyboard that makes easier typing with two fingers.

But, let's be realistic. Nothing out the ordinary or innovative.
